AccessKenya’s Collaboration Services Feted at the Kenya ICT Awards


NAIROBI Kenya – Friday November 23, 2012 - Leading Corporate Internet and IT solutions Provider AccessKenya Group has been feted for its versatile collaboration services after the company was awarded the “Unified Communications Solutions Partner of the year 2012” by the Computer Society of Kenya (CSK) during the 17th Annual Kenya ICT Pinnacle Awards gala event Thursday.


The award recognized the Group’s innovative efforts in delivering collaboration solutions namely immersive telepresence, video conferencing and IP telephony solutions that the company has been deploying over the past 12 months. Judges noted that AccessKenya had shown tremendous effort in providing “practical solutions that enhance efficiency in business.”
“AccessKenya has been very aggressive in deploying the video conferencing and telepresence solutions in the past months. They have versatile kits and have working strategic relationships with the world leader in video conferencing - Polycom,” said Kevin Waitere,” a judge on the CSK panel.

Accepting the award, AccessKenya Head of Retail Sales Mrs. Diana Mulili – Ndambuki said the company is keen on leading the way in innovation and is continuously engaging businesses to understand more the changing needs and consequently deploy relevant solutions.
“We are currently engaging both our existing and potential clients in targeted forums to audit the needs, which we appreciate are fast changing, and advice on future-proof solutions,” Mrs. Ndambuki said.

Last year, AccessKenya Group in partnership with the Aga Khan University Hospital pioneered the country’s first ever video conferencing surgery which showcased the application of collaboration the medicine, otherwise dubbed telemedicine. The event involved a live video surgery via video conferencing in which doctors from the Aga Khan Univeristy Hospital with help from experts in India and a group of Pan African Urological Surgeons sitting at a city hotel successfully performed a medical procedure.

Late last month, AccessKenya deployed an immersive telepresence solution at Kenya’s leading Boutique and Hotel – The Tribe. The Solution has been touted as superior, owing to its adaptability and integration capabilities.
“The beauty of this solution is that is has low bandwidth requirements and offers a high definition experience,” explained Mrs. Ndambuki.
Meanwhile, AccessKenya Managing Director Mr. Kris Senanu was also awarded “Best Executive Support in ICT” Award owing to his commitment to the ICT industry in Kenya. Mr. Senanu, who serves on various boards governing ICT in Kenya, is credited with providing worthwhile strategic counsel to these organs - drawing from his extensive experience and zeal in ICT.
“Mr. Senanu has dedicated his efforts in leadership and training to make the Kenyan ICT scene better,” said the judges in their citation.
The CSK Kenya ICT Pinnacle Awards were conceptualized in 1996 with the aim of recognizing players in the ICT industry in Kenya who make great contribution towards its advancement.
