LIBREVILLE,
GABON, June 8th 2015
— Bharti Airtel Africa, a leading telecommunications service provider with
operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, has today announced it will
sponsor the 2015 International Telecommunication Union Global Symposium for
Regulators (GSR). The symposium will take place from June 9th to 11th
2015, Libreville Gabon.
The
GSR conference whose central theme is “Mind the Digital Gap – Regulatory
incentives to achieve digital opportunities” will bring together the leaders of
international telecommunications companies and regulatory authorities to
explore ways to benefits consumers with the emerging digital economy.
In
addition to the partnership, Airtel Africa Chief Executive Officer Christian de
Faria will participate in a leadership panel discussion titled ‘Funding an
inclusive digital society from infrastructure to data’. The session will take
place on Tuesday, June 9th 2015 from 10:15 am – 12:00 pm. The
session will examine the various opportunities in deploying ICT networks,
providing access and supporting the development of new services to bolster
knowledge generation to reduce the digital gap.
