Nairobi, September 27, 2016 – The Kenya Dental Association Chairman Dr. Andrew Wetende was named Kenya’s 2016 Pierre Fauchard Award honoree fellow.
An international honor dental organization, the Pierre Fauchard Academy is dedicated to the advancement of the dental profession. Fellowship in the Academy is by invitation only and its current membership is comprised of those individuals who have made outstanding and meritorious contributions to the science and art of dentistry or to society.
“I am very proud and honored to have been inducted into the Pierre Fauchard Academy. I remain committed to the advancement of dentistry especially in the area of periodontology and implant dentistry,” said Dr. Wetende.
Dr. Wetende serves in different leadership roles in various professional bodies including the Kenya Dental Association, Association of Professionals of East Africa, Kenya Society of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry and the Common Wealth Dental Association.
Named after the father of modern dentistry, Dr. Pierre Fauchard, the Academy was founded in 1936 and dedicated to the advancement of the dental profession. The Academy accomplishes its goals through literature, by encouragement of advanced and continuing education, and by honoring those who have made outstanding contributions to the profession. The Academy has over 8,000 members in 68 nations.
During the 104th World dental congress held in Poland, Dr. Wetende was also awarded Fellowship in the Academy of Dentistry International, an international honor society for dentists dedicated to sharing knowledge in order to serve the dental and oral health needs and to improve the quality of life of people throughout the world.
